At her inquest, one after another, the five police involved repeated the same story that there was a riot taking place and they had acted in self-defence. If true, there must be questions over the bona fides of the UVF in its acts of "decommissioning", and in the role of the body which oversaw the process, the Independent International Commission on Decommissioning (IICD). The site of the murder is only a few yards away from West Kirk, Shankill Road, which I and others have got to know well in recent years (West Kirk stands on that corner). In response, Dawn Purvis has resigned as Leader of the Popular Unionist Party (PUP) which was closely linked with the UVF. Furthermore, it seems curious that Dr John Kyle has accepted the role of perceived public spokesman for the UVF, The assassination took place on Saturday 29 May in broad daylight, on the Shankill Road (a major thoroughfare) at its junction with Conway Street....
