Dundee United Chairman slams AEK Athens and UEFA over pitch ...

With a goal down from the first leg, United were to face AEK at the Olympic Stadium in Athens, but now the Greek side claim their ground is unplayable and are set to move the tie to a smaller stadium in the Greek capital. Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson has hit out at Greek outfit AEK Athens over their refusal to reveal the venue for Thursday’s Europa League showdown until 24 hours before kick off. It cost United £50,000 to put in bucket seats instead of our own wooden seats and that was at UEFA’s insistence. “I find it bizarre we had to jump through hoops to obtain a safety certificate to put on the first leg at Tannadice, yet now we’re unsure of where we’ll play AEK....
