Opposite and to the right of the old locomotive works (just where the portakabins are), was the site of the old Wolverhampton gas works. A view of the A449 Stafford Road in Wolverhampton, looking directly North towards Bushbury and Fordhouses. In the distance, the chimneys and silos to left of the ECC chimney belong to the Goodyear tyre company. The red brick chimney with the big ornamental top (to the far right of the image), was part of the old Electric Construction Co factory. Not to be confused with English Electric Co, the ECC manufactured large transformers and electric motors. Goodyear’s had occupied its huge Bushbury factory site since 1927, but sadly what remained of the tyre plant finally closed in 2008, much of it being demolished within a few months of the shutdown....

Site tests begin on a £3.3m road plan « Shropshire Star

The road would create a link between Stafford Street and High Street at the top of Phoenix Bank. Shropshire Council is due to carry out the first phase of ground investigation works in preparation for a new inner relief road in Market Drayton. 3 million relief road in a Shropshire market town is to begin next month, it emerged today. Highways chiefs say the first piece of work will be centred on the Stafford Street garage site.
