Leicester City Council - News Archive For Aug 2010: Sky Ride ...

The route then loops round down onto Ross Walk and Buller Road passing through the Golden Mile and then continues down Belgrave Gate taking a left into the city centre passing Phoenix Square and the Curve Theatre. The route for Sky Ride Leicester opens at 10am and takes riders on a 9km cycle from Abbey Park through the park up to Abbey Lane and the National Space Centre. Sky Ride Ambassador Gethin Jones said, “As part of Sky Ride last year I took up the challenge of cycling over 1000km around the UK to each Sky Ride event. From Rutland Street the route then loops up past the Town Hall onto Haymarket and then back onto Belgrave Gate and into Abby Park. It was such a fantastic experience and I was able to see parts of the country that would otherwise just fly by when travelling by car....
